Your application submits an address. HailGeeks resolves the property location, checks the available hail history, and returns the report information included with your developer access.

Results may be returned as structured data. Approved integrations may also request generated PDF reports.

One property, not a whole ZIP

City, county, and ZIP-level hail information can show that hail occurred somewhere across a broader area. It does not explain what was estimated at one particular property. Each question below maps to a field your application can read.

Field names are illustrative. The API provides estimated property-level weather analysis — it does not confirm that hail struck or damaged the property.

Submit an address

Your application sends a property address through an authenticated API request.

Resolve the property location

HailGeeks resolves the address to the coordinates used for the analysis, and may indicate whether it resolved to a rooftop or an estimated location.

Validate the geographic information

A caller-supplied ZIP or other geography is not treated as authoritative. HailGeeks independently derives or validates the ZIP against the resolved location.

Check the available hail history

The system checks up to two years of available history for qualifying hail activity associated with the property.

Select an event

Choose an available hail date from Property Hail History, then submit that address and date for Event Detail or Full Event.

Receive the results

The API returns the property and event information included with your developer access.

Radar and NWS Reports

Two separate forms of evidence

Property-level hail metrics are derived from radar-based analysis. NWS hail and wind reports provide additional ground-reported context, and they do not modify the radar estimates.

The absence of a nearby NWS report does not prove that hail or strong wind did not occur at the property.

What the API does not say

A Hail Report by Address provides estimated hail exposure and detailed storm context. It cannot confirm that an individual hailstone struck a roof or that physical damage occurred.

API results should not be presented as proof of roof damage, insurance coverage, claim eligibility, causation, or repair scope. When the information suggests closer review may be appropriate, the next step may be a safe ground-level assessment or professional inspection.

What does the Hail Reports by Address API provide?

The API provides structured hail report information associated with a specific property address. Depending on the approved report product, results may include hail-event dates, maximum estimated hail, event timing, duration, hail pass counts, cumulative exposure metrics, local 500-meter context, confidence information, NWS ground reports, and ZIP-level event statistics.

How much hail history is included?

The API checks up to two years of available hail history for the property. Exact date coverage and event availability are defined in the developer documentation.

Does the API confirm hail damage?

No. The API identifies estimated hail activity and provides property-level storm context. It cannot confirm that hail struck or damaged a specific roof or structure.

Can applications submit an address?

Yes. The API is designed to support property hail reports requested by address. HailGeeks resolves the submitted address to the coordinates used for the property-level analysis.

What happens if the address is not resolved to a rooftop?

The API may identify the location as estimated rather than rooftop-resolved. Applications should preserve that distinction when presenting the results.

Why does HailGeeks validate the ZIP code?

Property-level analysis must be based on the resolved coordinates rather than an unverified caller-supplied ZIP code. HailGeeks independently derives or validates the ZIP used for the report.

How are individual hail events requested?

Historical results provide available hail dates. Applications submit the property address and selected date when requesting Event Detail or Full Event information.

Can results be shown to customers?

Customer-facing use may be approved as part of a developer integration. Available fields, display requirements, and report permissions depend on the developer access provided.

Can results be saved or included in reports?

Storage, export, and report-use permissions depend on the approved integration. API access does not automatically include unrestricted storage, redistribution, bulk publication, or resale of the returned information.

Does the API include NWS reports?

Yes, depending on the report product. Property Hail History and Event Detail include bounded NWS context. Full Event adds deeper nearby evidence. NWS reports are separate storm evidence and do not change the property-level radar analysis.

Can the API determine whether an insurance claim should be filed?

No. The API provides property and storm context. It does not determine damage, insurance coverage, claim eligibility, causation, or repair scope.

Is the API publicly available?

Any eligible HailGeeks account can activate the deterministic, no-charge sandbox immediately. Live production data requires an approved production application.

How do I get API access?

Create a HailGeeks account and activate Sandbox in the Developer API console for immediate test access. Submit this form when you are ready to request Live production access.

How is API pricing determined?

Sandbox fixture calls are free. Live Property Hail History, Event Detail, and Full Event reports use 10, 30, and 60 credits respectively. The approved production request-rate limit appears in the Developer API console.
